Course Description: AP Spanish Literature & Culture (Ralston Valley Senior High School)
Designed by the College Board to parallel college-level introduction to Hispanic Literature courses, AP Spanish Literature courses cover representative works form the literatures of Spain and Spanish America, encompassing all genres. The courses build students' Spanish Language proficiency so that they are able to read and understand moderately difficult prose and express critical opinions and literary analyses in oral and written Spanish (an ability equivalent to having completed a third-year college level Spanish Language course.) Students demonstrate understanding by explaining how the content of texts relates to issues of politics, economics, religion, gender, social class and ethnicity in both historical and contemporary time frames.
